Volunteering to work in the Academy

Volunteers at the Academy bring with them a range of skills and experience that can enhance the learning opportunities of our students.  We, therefore, welcome and encourage volunteers from the local community.

Our volunteers include:

  • Members of the Local Governing Body
  • Parents of students
  • Ex-students
  • Students seeking work experience
  • University students seeking placement experience
  • Ex-members of staff
  • Local residents

The type of activities that volunteers engage in, on behalf of the Academy, include:

  • Hearing students read
  • Working with small groups of students to assist them in their learning
  • Working with individual students, as an additional tutor
  • Supporting the Academy’s Youth Club provision
  • Supporting our Learning Resource Centre
  • Accompanying school visits

We are committed to safeguarding students and young people and we expect our volunteers to share that commitment.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please complete the Volunteer Application Form, including details of the types of activities that you would like to help with and return it via e mail to office@chalfontvalleye-actacademy.org.uk  Once we receive your application, we will assess your preferred activities with our needs and invite you to attend the Academy for an informal discussion to ensure that you are suitable.  We will arrange an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and seek 2 references from individuals that you have detailed within your application form.  Prior to working as a volunteer within the Academy, you will be made aware of the role and responsibilities as a volunteer and receive an induction which will ensure that you are made aware of our key policies and procedures.
